Domingo Garcia-Huidobro of the Chilenian band Föllakzoid directed his debut feature “Partir to Live” in 2012. An episodic film that reconstructs the paranormal experiences of his protagonist in a gloomy atmosphere of black and white contrasted pictures, forests, a church and figures in greytones, foggy shots, shadowplay and stroboscopic effects.
The score was created by Jozef Van Wissem, who was critically acclaimed for his recent work, the soundtrack of Jim Jarmusch’s “Only Lovers Left Alive”. Now this score is going to be released on Sacred Bones Records, naturally, as not only “Obl Lovers Left Alive”s score, but Jim Jamusch’s and Jozef Van Wissem’s psychedelic rock band SQÜRL, as well as the experimental rock band Föllakzoid are all signed on Sacred Bones Records.
Jozef Van Wissem, who won the Cannes Sountrack Award for “Only Lovers Left Alive” in 2013 about his composition: “The score of partir to live consists of appropriated 12 string electric guitar drone, black baroque lute mirror images and minimal electronics'”
Domingo García-Huidobro is a 25-year-old Chilean director and musician, his short film “Preludio” (2008) was screening in the Helsinki Film Festival. His first movie Partir To Live” was part of the official selection at Valdivia Film Festival and premiered internationally at All Tomorrow’s Parties Festival in Camber Sands UK in 2013. Jim Jarmusch thinks his debut feature is ” A gently hallucinatory, mysterious and beautiful film”. The movie is officially released on Sacred Bones Films.
